RE: IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION

Dear West Virginia Family:

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

I would like to thank you for your confidence and for allowing me to serve the students and youth of our district once again.  My wife and I look forward to working with Brother and Sister Meadors as well as the other members of the district youth team.  During recent sectional conferences, the following were elected to the West Virginia District Youth Committee:

Section 1:      Nathaniel Reed | Morgantown, WV—newly elected
Section 2:      Roger Zimmerman Jr. | Keyser, WV—newly elected
Section 3:      Joseph Hunt | Parkersburg, WV—newly elected
Section 4:      Joel Sites | Hometown, WV—newly elected
Section 5:      Jarrod Price | Charleston, WV—re-elected

Special thanks to retiring Youth President David Bounds and his precious family for their faithful service of three years as Section 5 Youth Leader, two years as WV District Youth Secretary and one year as District Youth President. Their contributions are many and our district is blessed because of their leadership.

Many changes are taking place in West Virginia including the venue for Youth Camp 2011. As a result of the sale of the property in Pt. Pleasant, both Youth and Sunday School Camps will be held at the Rippling Waters Church of God Campground in Romance, WV. Rippling Waters is a beautiful campground located 15 miles north of Charleston off of I-77 at exit 116.  I believe that our students and youth will be very pleased. The dates for Youth Camp are July 25-28, 2011. Registration begins Monday, July 25th at 12 noon. No campers will be permitted on the property prior to 12 noon. Please note that camp will end with the Thursday evening service and all campers, chaperones and visitors will be required to depart the campground by 10:00PM on July 28th

Our evening speaker is Pastor Jason Staten who is the Maryland/DC District Youth President.  He is a veteran of youth ministry having served in multiple capacities in his district.

There’s no experience quite like youth camp.  From start to finish, camp will change lives and establish our youth with a greater walk with God.  We do not take lightly the trust you place in us to make a positive spiritual impact in your young people. It is our sincere desire to strengthen your hands and reinforce the powerful truths of the Word of God that you proclaim to your youth every week in the local church.

In addition to the spiritual component, we will also offer some new activities including: fishing, zip line, paintball, a basketball tournament, softball, paddle boating, swimming and archery.

We strongly urge churches, pastors and parents to pre-register for youth camp!  Youth Camp ages are 13 and up.

We will also have a limited number of spots for workers this year. Workers should not expect to work at camp without having approval in advance from the Youth President or Youth Secretary.  Please communicate this to your assembly.

Camper and RV spots are available on a first-come first-served basis at a cost of $21.50 per night (pop-up campers) and $26.50 per night (5th wheel campers).

This is a new venture for the WV District and I’m sure there will be some challenges. However, we stand ready to assist you as we move to this new location.

Should you have questions please feel free to contact me, Brother Meadors or a Youth Committee Member.  My contact information is below:
